This wildfire season could be severe for many communities in Western states. Forecasters said much of the West is ready to burn because extreme and exceptional drought is plaguing Oregon, California and the Desert Southwest. 
As more states have legalized recreational marijuana, the edibles market has surged. But the choice by many manufacturers to market their products as candy lookalikes opens the door for intellectual property lawsuits — and puts young children at greater risk of accidental ingestion.


Plaintiff's attorneys are looking deep into the weeds for evidence to support claims for business income lost because of COVID-19 public safety orders.
Markets largely remained well-capitalized, while exclusionary language concerning communicable disease and cyber exposures became more pervasive and tighter.


During pandemic lockdowns, more people adopted pets, but many dogs missed out on training and socialization. Now, dog bites requiring surgical treatment for the victim are increasing. 
Auto insurance customers whose finances took a hit during the pandemic started shopping around, and the trend raises key points for insurers on customer satisfaction and retention.  
Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue's new engine for its Woodland station is one of three rigs the department has purchased; it will be in service by the end of the year.


This year's hurricane season is forecast to be above average, with the potential for 13 to 20 named storms. In response, Fitch Ratings Inc. stated that its current stable rating outlook on the property-and-casualty and global reinsurance sectors could change. 
Most people know lightning can spark wildfires. But wildfires can also spark lightning — and scientists have just discovered a key cause of this phenomenon: air pollution. Dirtier air means more lightning above wildfires — and more rain, too.


Data from Internet of Things (IoT) devices gives insurers a way to move from pure risk transfer to real-time risk mitigation. Already widespread in commercial auto and home security, the devices have the potential to reduce water damage to homes and more.
